Meet Maggie Hakkou, our Talent Acquisition Lead, who spearheads our ongoing recruitment drive for talented professionals as the business expands.
Maggie has always enjoyed getting to know people of different backgrounds and says that pursuing a career in recruitment was the best decision she ever made. Maggie explains, “I’ve always loved dealing with people and wanted a career based on building relationships. I am continuously learning so much from people from all walks of life, and no two days are the same.”
When reflecting on her most memorable career milestone, prior to joining BG&E Resources Maggie was working for one of the world’s biggest recruitment companies where she had the opportunity to live in the UK, Singapore and Japan. Maggie adds, “It has been such an incredible journey and I’ve grown so much from the experience.”
Maggie has always been fond of travelling, and one of her favourite holiday destinations is the Gili Islands in Indonesia. Having a true outdoor nature, Maggie jokes, “It’s the no cars, limited reception, and being out and about in the sunshine and snorkelling with turtles. That’s my type of holiday!”
In her spare time, you’ll find Maggie listening to interview podcasts. Ricky Gervais on the ‘True Geordie’ podcast is one of her favourites. You will also find her spending time with her beautiful son Coby (pictured) or being outdoors, going for a long run or walking to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Lastly, when asked what her superpower is, Maggie chose resilience, as she explains, “I can bounce back from the setbacks with a smile on my face. I’m proud of how I can preserve and learn from my failures.” When looking back at her career, the advice she passes on is the importance of having a mentor, “to ensure you always have a compass and are receiving constructive encouragement along your journey.”
