In 2022, BG&E Resources (BGER) was awarded the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Management (EPCM) contract for the Geraldton Port Maximisation Plan (PMaxP), a major infrastructure project at the Geraldton Port in Western Australia.
Adam Bartle (Coastal Lead) from BGER was selected as a presenter at the PIANC Asia Pacific Conference 2024 in Sydney, Australia recently to share some insights into the PMaxP project.
At the conference, Adam addressed the audience with a high-level overview of the work completed to date to inform the location selection for the new berth at Geraldton Port and shared some results of ongoing work to optimise the new tug harbour development.
Adam says, “It was a pleasure to represent BGER and present the work on Pmax to the maritime community. PIANC APAC 2024 was a great opportunity to reconnect with past clients and connect with new clients including port authorities, contractors, and other asset managers.”
Adam has been a key contributor throughout the project, which aims to maximise the use of the current harbour layout by adding a new dry bulk export berth, extending and upgrading the existing Berth 6 and relocating the tug harbour to a new facility adjacent to the main western breakwater.
The design stage of the PmaxP project is nearing completion, and the project is moving into its next stage. The community consultation and environmental approvals process is underway for the upgrade works for Berth 1, the new tug facility, and Berth 6.
