We were engaged to conduct a pre-feasibility study for the major upgrades of Bloomfield Colleries’ Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) at their Rix’s Creek North mine site.

Rix’s Creek Open Cut Mine has been operating since 1990 and now incorporates both the Rix’s Creek South and Rix’s Creek North operations.

After an intensive review of the CHPP at Rix’s Creek North, necessary infrastructure upgrades for tailings dewatering and ROM debottlenecking were identified.

The upgrade works by BGER’s Newcastle team include incorporating a new Thickener, Solid Bowl Centrifuge Building and Dry Power flocculation plant. Major upgrades to the ROM circuit include the addition of a Rotary Breaker and rejects circuit. In combination, these works will enhance the operational, cost and environmental performance of the CHPP.

The Detailed Design stage is anticipated to begin in March 2024 following the conclusion of the pre-feasibility.
